Somewhere in New Jersey

It has been almost a week now since myself and this brother from another mother and father—to my right in the picture, I hope you get what I mean—were in New Jersey, in a suburb called Hawthorne, to celebrate the joy of witnessing a matrimonial bond. We were there to support one of our closest pals and her sweetheart, hoping for a lifelong union.
It was an amazing occasion. I just love going to such events, but they do come with a lot of responsibilities—physical, emotional, and psychological.
Anyway, we had a great time. While there, I met an older man who thought I was the most fascinating person around. When he heard I was from Ghana, he said he was thrilled and began telling me stories upon stories about people he had met from my country. He gave me his contact number and said, “Call me if you need anything.” I am yet to call him. Looks like I always carry myself—and my beloved country—well enough with me wherever I go.
Life is great when we walk and leave behind good footprints. Of course, our lives are not meant to be lived to impress others but to impress ourselves, or simply to feel good about who we are. But hey, if we focus too much on ourselves, we become blind to the good in others—and that is where egocentrism sets in.
Be a blessing to somebody, and if possible, to the very least and disadvantaged among us. I am not naive about the fact that we all have some good in us—all of us—but sometimes it just becomes harder for us to show it to others.
