Happy Palm Sunday to all you wonderful people.
Yesterday, I attended the Palm Sunday vigil mass at Sr. Anne's Parish marking the beginning of Holy Week. It’s a time that stirs profound reflection, and as always, the liturgy offered many moments to contemplate. The readings, especially the Passion narrative, were rich and moving. There was so much to absorb, but one word stood out to me above all: mercy. Repeating that word alone in itself is a powerful prayer.
In the Passion of Christ, we are reminded of the immense suffering Jesus endured. He was betrayed, denied, beaten, mocked, and ultimately crucified. And yet, in the face of this unimaginable pain, He looked up to Heaven and said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” This single line is the most powerful expression of mercy the world has ever known. “Father, Have mercy on them”
It’s hard to fathom such love. But that is the mercy of God. Not only is it extended to those who stood at the foot of the cross, but it’s offered freely to us, even now. In our weakness, our mistakes, and our betrayal, God’s mercy meets us there, not with condemnation, but with compassion and forgiveness.
This divine mercy is not only something we are meant to receive, but something we are called to share. As we journey through Holy Week, may we reflect on this mercy, and allow it to shape our hearts—to forgive, to heal, and to love more deeply.
Lord, have mercy on us. And may we learn to have mercy on one another.
God bless you, and have a faith-filled Holy Week 🙏
Pal Ronnie
