Mass Readings and Reflection for October 8th 2026

First Reading: (
Galatians 3:1-5)

Responsorial Psalm: (Luke 1:69-75)

Response:

"Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel; He has come to His people."

Gospel: (Luke 11:5-13)

Reflection:

Prayer is not about persuading God to care. God already loves us completely. Persistent prayer deepens our trust and helps us align our hearts with His will. Sometimes the answer comes quickly; sometimes it comes through patience and growth. God's greatest gift is always His presence through the Holy Spirit.

That is why the central message of today's readings is the relationship between faith, prayer, and the Holy Spirit.

Faith

St. Paul teaches that the Christian life begins and grows through faith.

"The righteous one shall live by faith." (Romans 1:17)

Faith is a gift received at Baptism and nourished throughout life.

Prayer

Jesus teaches persistence in prayer.

"Pray without ceasing." (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

Prayer strengthens our relationship with God just as communication strengthens human relationships. Through prayer, we learn to trust that God hears us and knows what we need.

The Holy Spirit

The Father responds to our prayers by giving us the Holy Spirit.

"The Advocate, the Holy Spirit... will teach you everything." (John 14:26)

The Spirit grants wisdom, courage, peace, and strength for daily Christian living.

The Eucharist

The Eucharist is the source and summit of Christian life.

"I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever." (John 6:51)

Through Holy Communion, Christ nourishes us so that we can be His presence in the world.

Faith

"For we walk by faith, not by sight." (2 Corinthians 5:7)

  • Do I trust God's grace more than my own efforts?
  • Am I allowing faith to guide my decisions?

Prayer

"Ask and it will be given to you." (Matthew 7:7)

  • Am I persistent in prayer?
  • Do I continue praying when answers seem delayed?

Holy Spirit

"Be filled with the Spirit." (Ephesians 5:18)

  • Am I listening to the Spirit's guidance?
  • How is the Holy Spirit working in my life?

Eucharist

"Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him." (John 6:56)

  • Does receiving Communion transform the way I live?
  • Am I bringing Christ's peace to others?
I hope you got something.
God bless you
