I'm Not a Misogynist: An Observational Piece On Women and Leadership

This picture above is from a recent video featuring Vice President Kamala Harris that surfaced on YouTube. Its publication sparked widespread discussion and in fact still have people talking about it. As the former frontrunner of the Democratic Party, she came close to becoming the president of the United States of America. What a feat? However, in this particular video, she appeared visibly exhausted. From my perspective as a clinician, she seemed very fatigued, although others speculated that she might have been under the influence of alcohol. Regardless, the signs of exhaustion were crystal clear. It seems the weight of the recent campaign had taken a big toll on her. Her campaign was little over 100 days from when Biden made way for her to the day the American people went to the polls on November 5th.

I want to be clear here, you don’t have to be a misogynist to acknowledge certain roles, such as leading the United States, being a frontline soldier in combat, the navy seals etc are meant for men with high levels of testosterone. These jobs might demand qualities often associated with men, yes, men with egos the size of the Empire State Building multiplied by 100, coupled with high testosterone levels as mentioned earlier and the temperament to stand firm against other world leaders. This observation isn’t anti-progress or anti-feminist; it’s simply an acknowledgment of the intense demands of the job. Let us put silly or petty politics aside and be realistic.

Just consider this: the campaign had lasted barely over 100 days as stated above, yet the VP looked utterly drained in this picture from the video. The initial enthusiasm and joy she projected, though questionable and arguably inauthentic, had completely vanished. She seemed like a completely different person entirely.

Now, let’s talk about the presidency itself. It’s arguably one of the hardest, dirtiest, most demanding jobs on Earth. The U.S. president oversees an economy with an annual output or aggregate GDP exceeding $25 trillion and in 4 years, if in office, the president would have managed the economy in excess of $100 trillion over that period of four-year term. The role also involves managing or overseeing the  more than 700 military bases worldwide, maintaining the second-largest nuclear arsenal just after Russia, and representing the nation in over 100 plus countries with ambassadors. Every day, the president makes life-and-death decisions. The job is far beyond ego.

Now, most people think of America as a business, if so, wouldn’t it make sense to appoint someone with some business acumen to run it? The responsibilities are monumental, requiring an extraordinary level of stamina, decisiveness, and resilience. It’s not a position for the faint of heart. Positive energy today, worn out tomorrow. This past election showed that the American people thinks Trump is the man to do the job. He is someone who has never quit from his days as a NYC builder to his most recent venture into politics. He's resilient and a workaholic and those are good for the nation.

To the feminist, who cried and shaved their heads, vow to never have intimate relationship with men after the election in protest of her loss. I think their actions was over done. I am actually a believer that women are wonderful, their brains are amazing in how they function, but I just don't think running the most powerful nation on earth is one of their God's blessed abilities. Even one of the issues voters had with Kamala in America was her role as the border Czar during the Biden Administration as the VP, a position next to the presidency. She didn't do much of anything to bring change and this was just a mere border. Now imagine running a country. I think people had genuine concerns. I knew that when the Vice President, Ms. Harris appeared in that video, her supporters would be comforted to see that she's doing fine after the election.  I'm sure they were happy and she also reassured them that the fight wasn't over. I respect that determination very much. However, the reality of what it takes to lead a nation remains undeniable. A presidency demands unwavering strength and an extraordinary capacity to handle the pressures of the free world.

In terms of stewardship, her campaign is said to have raised over a billion dollars and is now in the red of some $20 million dollars. Just juxtaposed it eith running the economy at large with a budget of over $4 trillion dollars.

I hope that the over 66 million plus of our fellow Americans who supported her will unite with those who didn't so that such that together there will be love and unity for the greater good of the nation. America needs healing.

Whether the feminist like it or not, world leaders like Putin of Russia, Xinping of China, Kim Jung Un of North Korea, MBS of Saudi Arabia, Trudeau of Canada etc, these men will not show respect to Trump the same way they would have to a president Harris. That is the truth. It will never be the same. Trump is not perfect but those people respect him especially China. In fact he is not in the White House yet, but these leaders are rallying around him already with respect and admiration for the T.2.0 ( Trump 2.0). America is a complex nation that requires complex and dynamic leadership and respect.

I hope you know that this is not about undermining progress or the role of women in politics and or leadership; it’s about recognizing the unique challenges of the presidency. And that’s a conversation worth having.

I remain your realistic Pal,

Ronnie
