Jesus was transfigured. God spoke. We must remember that in both light and darkness, God is still on His throne, and Jesus is still His beloved Son.
From the first reading in the book of (Daniel 7:9-10,13-14), the prophet describes a vision where “thrones were set up, and the Ancient One took his throne.” Amid flames and fire, a divine courtroom is revealed, and one like a Son of Man comes “on the clouds of heaven.” He is given glory, kingship, and dominion that shall never be taken away.
This Son of Man is Christ, radiant in glory, eternal in power. He is not only the suffering servant but also the enthroned King.
The Psalm, Psalm 97, David proclaims, “The Lord is king, the Most High over all the earth". Even when clouds and darkness surround us, God remains in control over all our dealings in this world. Justice and righteousness are the foundation of His throne. In a world that often feels unstable, this truth anchors us.
The seond reading: (2 peter:16-19), Peter, in his letter, reminds us of that sacred moment on the mountain: “This is my Son, my beloved, with whom I am well pleased.” He urges us to hold fast to this light “shining in a dark place,” until it rises fully in our hearts.
In the Gospel of Luke, (Luke 9:28-36) Jesus takes Peter, James, and John up the mountain to pray. There, He is transfigured before them. In awe, Peter says, “Master, it is good that we are here.” A voice from the cloud speaks clearly: “This is my chosen Son; listen to him.”
And so we must.
In times of clarity or confusion, joy or grief, let us remember: Jesus is still God’s beloved Son, and God is still seated on His throne. The light of Christ shines not only from the mountain, but into the very depths of our lives.
God bless you always,
