Reflecting on 2014: Loss, Joy, and Hope for the New Year
As I write this, there are less than 10 hours left in this part of the world before we welcome 2015. For some reason, I find myself filled with a sense of anticipation and hope for what the new year has in store.
Looking back, 2014 wasn’t a bad year, though it brought its share of heartache. I experienced the loss of two close relatives—my aunt and my uncle—just six months apart. Their absence was deeply felt, and their memories remain with me.
Yet, amidst the sorrow, life gave us a reason to smile again. In the same year, my niece Angela was born. Her arrival brought a light to our family that helped ease the pain of our losses. She is truly a joy to us all, and her presence reminds me of the beauty of life’s balance—how moments of sadness can be followed by profound happiness.
As 2014 draws to a close, I carry these mixed emotions with me: gratitude for the blessings, remembrance of those we’ve lost, and excitement for the possibilities ahead. Here’s to 2015—a year of new beginnings, challenges, and cherished moments.

As I look back on 2014, I can’t help but mark it as a year of tough luck, especially after July 17th on I-287—a day that will forever remain etched in memory. It was a year of challenges, but also one of perseverance and faith.
Despite the hardships, I hold onto the belief that 2015 will bring something bigger and grander. With every twist and turn, we shall continue to praise His Holy Name, trusting in His divine plan. We may not know where He intends to take us next, but faith assures us that His guidance is unwavering.
As I reflect on the ups and downs of the past year, I also think of you all. I prayed that whatever difficulties you faced in 2014 would be transformed into abundant blessings in 2015. May the new year be a time of renewal, hope, and prosperity for all of us.
Let’s step into 2015 with gratitude for lessons learned and faith in the blessings yet to come.
Happy New Year, and may you laugh, love, and live better than you did in 2014.
God loves you all and so do I.
Pal, Ronald.
