The Rich and the Kingdom of God

Today gospel was about the wealth and the kingdom of God but what is wrong for the most part is that we often interpret this very literally.

Selling all that we have could mean many different things – letting go of attachments, friendships, influences, jobs, entertainments, styles of life – really anything that might stand in the way of our loving God first and foremost in our lives and giving him the best we can with our time, resources, gifts, and service.

My Message of Memorial Day Today

The greatness of every nation depends for the most part on the respect and honor that nation devotes to its men and women who sacrifice their lives for the good and prosperity of that nation and that is exactly what is being observed here in the United States today Monday of May 27th, 2013.

It was a great ceremony at the Arlington National Cemetery to honor the fallen heroes of this free nation. I can't imagine any nation that takes for granted the freedom they enjoy as a result of other people sacrifices.

May God bless all who for duty, service, and their spirits of patriotism lost their lives in service. That their souls may rest in peace.

God bless America

The World is Flat

Don't forget or use sticker notes
Well, all the videos and  stuff I share here are things I enjoy pretty much and hope you do like it and learn something from it too. The picture here is to serve as a reminder of the basis in which I had this blog was created, mostly fun and educative materials.

We got to growth big and monstrous in Spirit

How can I grow stronger in faith?
Faith, as we know, is a gift from God. This does not mean faith is entirely up to God, however. There is much we can do to dispose ourselves to receive the gift of faith and to grow in that gift.

First of all, let us define faith. In the Letter to the Hebrews, we read: "Faith is confident assurance concerning what we hope for, and conviction about things we do not see." In other words, faith is the acceptance and assurance that God's word is true because it is God's word. And faith is believing that God Himself is true because He is God. Such faith makes it possible for us to experience God; indeed, without faith, it is impossible to know and accept God.

Is it possible to be a person of faith and still be rational, or does faith require that one deny worldly truths?

The Church has a long history of reflection upon faith. It is the task of theology to apply human reason to faith-related issues. This has been more difficult than ever during the past century, when science has raised serious questions concerning age-old dogmas and theologies. Nevertheless, the Church persists in her affirmation that faith and reason are not at odds with one another. Recall that Jesus told us that He is the way, the truth and the life, and that His spirit would lead us into the fullness of truth. It follows from this that wherever truth may be found -- whether it be revealed truth from God or a truth discovered by scientists -- there need be no conflict. Therefore, it is inappropriate to promote faith by denying any kind of scientific truth.

Growing in faith is possible for those who are willing to do the following:

First -- Spend time each day in prayer. Spend time in reading the Scriptures and reflecting upon the meaning of God's word. It takes a certain amount of faith just simply to make time for God, believing that this time will not be wasted. God will honor this exercise of faith by making His home more fully within us. A commitment to daily prayer is probably the most powerful means of growing in faith. Where there is no prayer, faith will surely be weakened.

Second -- Scriptural reading is also important. Reading good religious books, inspirational literature and using Scripture study guides for reading the Bible can help to broaden our horizons and deepen our faith convictions.

Third -- Receiving the sacraments will deepen faith, for in the sacraments we encounter the Christ in whom we believe in a special way.

Fourth -- Sharing our faith with others is one of the best ways to grow in faith. An old saying has it that you can't give what you don't share. It is in sharing our faith with others -- especially with those who are weak in faith -- that the assurance and convictions of faith will grow within us.

And finally, we grow in faith by striving to live a life of love. Through loving as Christ loved, we find confirmation of the truths of Christianity; we learn through first-hand experience that God's word is truth: that in Christ's love is our happiness. Faith, for those who love, becomes a way of life, rather than a mere attitudinal stance. Putting our faith into practice through loving is what the Gospel is all about.

Just for you and only you Pals:)

Yesterday was so beautiful and as a result we decided to make it the "lawn day". By lawn day I am referring to the 2-3 hours that is often devoted to mowing the lawn, and edging the hedges etc. We were three in the yard and I was edging the walls with the trimming electric machine. Papa Ben had the big lawn machine and Mama Barbara the mower.

That was real epic with real division of labor at work. The property in the neighborhood by all measure is the biggest and the most cared for. We make sure the yard is at its best get the attention of folks passing by and so as our neighbors. Those flowers bloom only once a year and when I get out of home, I stand in front a enjoy their natural beauty knowing that with few sunshine in few days they will be whether off.

Those flowers are in realities likened to who we are, for we were all born children; naked, simple, and innocent and as years pass by we shed off our nakedness, simplicity and innocence and even experience some form of death until one day we are dead and gone. This should therefore always remind us that we are time and space just like these flowers and as a result need to be humble beyond our arrogance and egocentricity.

Man o man, thank God I wasn't tested on this or I would have bombed flat. Thank you legendary Chinua Achebe for this masterpiece of there was a country. After Reading this book, I sincerely came to terms with you that you are a real intellectual/historian and this in some sense could be that you also published your autobiography and struggles during the Nigeria-Biafra war before passing away this year. Yes I would have failed because I had no clue there was civil war in Nigeria in the late 1960s after Nigeria's independence and I never knew there was a Biafra who sought secession from the federal government of Nigeria by mostly Igbos.
So had it been that I was ask anything about this war in an exams I would have failed due to ignorance. This book however gave me enlightenment to the war, the cause, and how the determined spirits of the Biafrans in their quest for freedom from Federal government of Nigeria was at work. But unfortunately they didn't succeeded after a long fight and loosing thousands of their people mostly children from hanger and the rest.

I have learn a lot from that book and couldn't be better from none but Mr. Achebe. May your soul rest in peace.

It was a rainy day across most of the States in the nation. It poured vigorously for few minutes and stops then again and stop and on and on. This evening news had it that some towns in low laying areas like Nyack was been flooded. Of course we received messages on phones and emergency radios about impending floods. Well, folks gotta be on alert.

I saw her less than four feet from me while I was indoors because of the rain and thought let me snap her. Interesting for you all pals.

I had this at Barnes&Nobles and think it is the best I have ever had. of course I was  so thirsty.

When hungry intellectually, this is where we go pal:)

Barnes&Nobles my best place in the mall. Now it is Friday and I have a lot and it will also be raining like crazy along side but guess what? TGIF and enjoy . I will get back with more for you all. Stay blessed and peace you pals!!

Fed Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke on Q.Easing

Today, Fed Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke was on the Hill to answer questions on the Economic Outlook and Monetary Policy. I like to watch him talk about the economy with all its complications.
One of the things they asked him and he spoke about was the term quantitative easing. Quantitative easing is where the Federal Reserve pumps money into the economy by means of buying bonds.

Keep it open pals!

What a Natural Disaster in Oklahoma

Tornado in video
My heartfelt sympathy goes out to all the people of the suburb in Oklahoma City who suffered the massive tornado rip-off of an entire town. News has it that over 50 lives have been lost so far with search teams still looking and expecting the numbers to rise. This is by far one of the biggest natural disasters to had cause such a massive damage in recent years in the Midwest. President Obama declares a major disaster in Oklahoma yesterday and efforts are in place to rescue and help those helpless people. This is not a minor issue as lives, homes, businesses, and a whole neighborhood had been wiped down to ground level.

When you hear Oklahoma City you might as well want to remember the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing that claimed over 168 lives. But this one is a natural disaster called Tornado just so you don't mix it up.
Anyway, I was asked last night while the news was ongoing of the disaster if we have tornadoes in Ghana and my response was resounding yes but not as extreme as it is down here. Things get too intense here in town and that is frightening you know. For instance when cold, it's cold to extreme and when hot, man- you will get baked like a bread in an oven and that is the northern hemisphere for you pal.

Nonetheless the lost souls, we pray they find rest in perfect peace and all the lost homes may be able to recover as soon as they can. The human spirit by nature is very resilient and I have no doubt with government support they will be fine.
God bless them.

Justin Bieber Booed at Billboard?

Oh well, Justin Bieber yesterday at the Billboard Award Ceremony night got booed at while he was on stage to get his award. Why he got booed at I can't tell but this is the young singer being hailed as one of the most talented young singers of our time not just in America but the whole world at large.

It could be of reasons for his latest attitude to people as it was believed that he spat on a fan, smuggled his monkey into Germany, more into pot smoking with pals, and king of all kinds of tattoos. You can sum it all up to him being rude. But are all these enough to subject him to those humiliations? I don't think so but what I do know is that people will bring you to places and they will take you out of there when they see negative changes in you. Take it from me for I have been there.

His problem I think is simply the catastrophe of success-see Tennessee Williams. Anyway, people should also remember he is just 19 years of age and still have a lot of childishness in him. Pardon him people as growth and maturity still have a big hand in the young pal regardless of all the fame and success he still need some mental time off.

The Beauty of Sunshine of God's Creation-Check it out Pals

There is nothing like nature- the beauty and perfection of God's creation. At any point in time the sun is always rising or setting or shining somewhere in the world. I love nature and admire it every second of my being here on earth.
When I look at this particular picture it gives me so much peace and deep thoughts of life and nature.

Tribute to the Late Legendary Chinua Achebe

This is chapter 8 of Things Fall Apart by the late literary genius Chinua Achebe. He will forever be remembered.

Surprised!!!

Nothing surprise and annoy me more than a closed and ignorant mind. Well, I don't walk around with the whole world in my head but I don't luck good things a say about others and the world I inhabit. Truth be told I just might as well start ignoring certain people when they talk to me unfortunately. Wait!! I was in Englewood- New Jersey,U.S yesterday and with my sweet friend we did a lot of running rounds in town. Guess what we ran into this fellow who looked like a really nice gentleman and of course we started talking.

Good God he asked me a question and I felt like throwing up. Don't be deceived by how certain people look to you. Despite the fact that we live in an information age with smart devices in our pockets everywhere yet many of us are damn than the word itself.

I know all you my pals are opened minded. The secret!! read wide and watch television shows less. Some are educative but not enough to feed you with the best.

Have a wonderful evening.

Pal, RON:)

Lies lies and lies and that is just the reason why I don't Trust our World.

When people disappoint you by means of lies man, don't go crazy for all you need to remember is that life itself is a scandal, full of lies. I don't have go there yet but if you could just do yourself a favor and put on your thinking cap on you will get what I am mumbling about for Goodness sake.

Lies lies and lies everywhere and it all comes back to scandals when people realize folks are getting enlighten. I wonder what the next step will be.

Don't worry, everything will be alright in due time and season. God is the only truth and nothing else. I love history and that is why I have a partial degree in history. Love for history with reasons that if we don't know the past with all its good and bad we are bound to repeat it especially the funky, I mean the bad. Ask the so called smart people and they will see the ignorance in your face and brainwash you with sanitized, sterilized, and deodorized history. So wake up and seek the truth yourself by doing intensive reading and research into history and the past and about yourself. Nobody but you who can get to the bottom of every truth about yourself and life.

Have a happy Pentecost Sunday: that brings me to the Cross and as a christian  I pay tribute to the tree of life (The Cross). It was on this Sunday of Pentecost that the disciples and early believers in the Good News received the gift of the Holy Spirit Jesus long promised, which is the truth. I couldn't talk of truth without mentioning the Spirit as a Christian.
Peace and God bless you all.

Pal Ron
