FITNESS FOR LIFE

TEN WAYS TO STAY FIT
Ø  Intake of fluids is a must. While playing, you lose a lot of body fluids in a form of sweat. These fluids are very important to maintain the right salt balance in our body. Therefore, you should always keep a water bottle with you and drink from it often.
Ø  If you do not like to have water, you can have Diet Ice sodas, Reebok Water, Vitamin Water or any other form of healthy fluid for that matter.
Ø  Plan your meals carefully. The meals should be balanced and always try to avoid excessive calories.
Ø  Do not get carried away by temptations. Think twice before you eat! Make sure that whatever you are eating is providing you good nutrition.
Ø  The intake should be based on your activity and not on your mood. People often tend to eat more in excitement and even in tension. Avoid doing this!
Ø  If you don’t eat balanced diet, make sure that you do take a daily vitamin and mineral supplements for total health.
Ø  Limit caffeine (coffee is the chief here). Also, avoid smoking or exposure to even passive smoking. Smoking tends to weaken your muscle strength. Also, avoid regular intake of alcohol.
Ø  Regular exercise is a must. Also, focus on short-term fitness goals.
Ø  Planning a diet is not difficult but executing is! So, make sure you stick with the diet plans that you can maintain indefinitely.
Ø  Treat yourself with an 'unhealthy' treat just once in two weeks if you find it difficult to control.
To conclude, do not take your health for granted. Fitness and health are a privilege and you should take care to maintain them. Remember how you feel after a good amount of exercise, and you also enjoy good sleep when you exercise. Join me and lets stay fit like fiddles, lol

@ Sheraton Hotel, Manhattan theater District

All I heard was, "we are going to the have the meeting in Sheraton Hotel". Where that was, I had no idea. The driver of this fancy bus drove us to almost the entrance of the ultra modern hotel, Sheraton.
Upon walking into the building, one could tell it's a popular hospitality facility. As I turn to my right, I saw people trooping in and out with luggage's at hand, and one of those groups that actually caught my attention was these three young ladies, with their uniform depicting flight attendants and probably from the Middle East. Their caps had Arabic words on and I could easily determine the particular airlines they might be working for and thus, Emirates. One thing about those young women was that, they were all the same height, luggage and everything the same as if somebody’s triplets.
In no time, they disappeared into one of the elevators and we kept heading to our conference area. It was really nice and cool inside there, not to mean freezing, but the scenery in the hotel was nothing but glamorous. The carpet I was walking on was somewhat designed to perfectly match the ceiling of the edifice and then, it was so smooth, and all I felt was that, I was springing up and down as if there were strings beneath the carpet as I walked to my destination, and finally we were there.
Registration to the conference was  in progress, I was handed a piece of paper, and I wrote my name and appended my executive signature on it.
We were also quiet late, even though we set off early from home. And hence a handful of us didn’t even get to take breakfast and I was one  of them. But mine was normal a routine because, I seems to be having some eating problems lately, lack of appetite for breakfast until probably 11-12pm.
Even those of us who planned eating something there as breakfast before the meeting commences, were being left out. There was simply no reservation for late comers, remember lateness has no place in America, and probably in heaven.
At 10:30am, all delegates and members of the said meeting were seated and the agendum of the day was announced, the speaker began by acknowledging members who came from Long Island but late and didn’t get breakfast, and he said because of that, lunch was going to be early and that was at 12pm. I had no problem. But this whole thing of food is just to draw your attention to how important it is to eat.
Eateries are the sole cause of mankind’s struggle on daily basis in America, typical American is a good friend of food and no wonder most of their health problems are food related. Its in America you find people weighing 500-650lbs. Some people even believe if they should have something on their table everyday without a dime in their pocket, they will appreciate it so much. I think I have to cite with them, we need food in order to live.
What was discussed?
The whole issue of the meeting wasn’t something new, and nothing that members and delegates were being called to come and contribute to decision making.
Everything was done already with letters forwarded out to all members. But the way I listened to folks expressed themselves was simply beyond mouth description. I have never heard people talk like that in my life before. Why do we elect leaders if I may ask? The answer is simple; we elect leaders to be our mouthpiece, talk for us those who are “crowdphobic” and cannot talk for ourselves.
Some people got up to ask question, and ended up blasting the high table officials with very indecent words and insults. The whole thing was an eye saw. We are no more in the very free world where everything is received for nothing. We can all witness the hell that is right here with us, earth. The broken world, economy is struggle to stand independent, joblessness on record high, social security in live support, yet people refused to use their heads to think and be considerate.
To have something in small amount, but last long, to me is it better than have it in its abundance and at the end of the day, you lacks nothing and resort to complete deprivation.
To slash the long story off, and complains short, some people sat on their decision table and made a forecast to a benefit package and realize that, if nothing was done about what is happening today, something serious will bring to the people troubles and unpleasant live to bear. And the problem of the foreseen problem was easily identified. It’s always good to know the cause of a problem and the next step being to cure it. And the cause of the present problem was identified as an abuse to the package to members by their spouses.
And the decision was that, in order to maintain what everybody loved and cherish forever, they will be a little contributions to the package in a form of co-payments after every visit to a doctor or physician. This to every clear conscience person with little or no deliberations knows it’s still good and cheaper for the benefit of all. Yet! Members and some folks were on the verge to walking with the heads in Sheraton.
Why this decision was made and what people refused to remember was that, the national debt of US is now estimated 14 trillion, and when I did the math, it was pretty clear at least every single American citizen was in debt of $43,700.00. We need to be at least responsible to ourselves sometimes.
And I also think the problem is that, people often express their feelings of “I don’t carism”. Which is very deadly and dangerous to the common good of the people.
I even heard some people asking whether this decision could be repealed and some asking everywhere where the key decision maker was hiding. Could it be that, they were looking to get home beaten or what? absolutely not I guess, you chose me to make decision, and I have given you yet one of the best decisions and nothing else. Personally, I also believe that, wasn’t the best, and I did understood the problems of many. Some said they haven’t  had a raise in pay for over three years, with the same pay and escalating food prices and other consumer products on daily basis.
But the question is who is responsible for that? Nothing is free today. Not even those who are on welfare. Some people on welfare suffer more than every imagination. This is when there are given some help to life with 1001 prohibitions. When officers are out to inspect recipient’s home, he/she will work hard to hide everything possessed including clothes, else they will lose their package of welfare.
Too much noise and insults more often aren’t the solution, but then again, some noise and criticisms does makes a difference. Just like the other day, the mayor was being criticized after the first snow storm for failure to keep thing in order.  And the next, he worked hard and relentlessly to improve it. We all need to manage the little resources at hand and hope for the best in the future. Things will always get back to normal when we are fine with economic growth and prosperity. When difficult times like this comes, we don’t always need to be shifting blames on people we trust to represent us.
I am not supporting anybody but my stand is clear from here that, nothing is free again. If not, why  does NY State deficit  now peaked 11 billion dollars? It should have been canceled for free.
It is time, so stop being cheap for it’s a sin to always sit and expect everything for free.

The Catie and the Owner, Snezh.....

Pets
Pets, I love pets so much and at age 4, we had a dog called Noway. Noway happened to be the first pet for us , I mean, my two elder sisters and I. We loved this pet so much that, we used to take shower together.

Noway, usually had his shower first before us. After shower, we will smear here pomade and give her some of our Saturday Night Powder.lol

But unfortunately, one day, while at my uncle's village in Congo, we were on our way to the farm and Noway upon spotting guinea fowls, started to chase them, and I think he mistook them for wild birds and cousin Ziem was after him with his hoe, commanding him to stop, but he refused and kept chasing them, and at a point when he was about to grab one, he released his hoe after Noway and there his occiput receives the hoe, and that was the end of our sweet dogie, Noway.

Well, Ziem was so concerned about the attitude of the dog, because he was chasing somebody birds and if in case he kills one of them, he together with us all was going to bear responsibilities.  But the fact was that, it wasn't worth killing the dog which we later lamented it was an accident for he didn't intend to kill him, but to scare him from the birds.

Guess what? Julie my elder sister wept this pet bitterly and I wonder how much she wept our Dad when he passed.hmm!!

But, the morale is that, some pets are special and needs to be part of our very lives, and treated well.
Like Bonnie also called "Nammy-nuts", and Zoe, they have their Vet, a very intelligent doctor of course, they have shower every weekends, they are well treated and pampered and that is good.
Just like my sweet friend Snezhana and her pet on bed very tired as inserted below;lol

After Noway, and many years thereafter, I had another poppy, he was also sweet but unfortunately, a virus broke out and had him slain.

I also had and cat, and when I went to High School, thus my freshman year, it was accordingly used for a family dinner one day by an uncle of mine. Dam!!
How wicked and hungry they were? when I heard this during my holidays at home, I was really pissed, but  didn't want to pursue the case of using my pet for dinner further.
But all is good, and  right now, here comes Zoe and Bonnie. Bonnie is just old, but a sweet pet but Zoe is the goodie girl. Here she is-sitting next to me as I write this.

Below are Zoe and Bonnie.

Zoe

Bonnie
Pets are good, and as a friend said one day, " if you need a friend who will always be there for you and smiles unconditionally all the time, go get a Pet(dog)". I thought of it for a while, but got to understood why he made that statement. All true!

Good evening to y' all.

Another Blizzard Forecast

There has been a forecast some few days ago about the impending snow storm expected on Tuesday night. That is good, nothing excites me more than seeing forks run halter skelter to get stuff together to keep life on the ago in case they are held captive by the storm.

I was also happy to see the Mayor of the Big Apple, I mean New York, Mr. M.B on one of the TV station, briefing press and the rest about preparations towards, this impending snowstorm. That, was nothing but good news, also impressive, at least New Yorkers, especially those in the City, are rest assured, their needs will be met in case this storm goes beyond it’s borders, and this was as a result of the comments and criticisms that forks directed to the Mayor, of which I am very much convinced.

Those criticisms, were able to bring the Mayor’s job approval down, and he realize he don't have to play the people any games of politics of delays. And I think that is why we need people who are great talkative and political critics, but not those who fuel commotion amongst people in the nation.

Personally, I am happy the Mayor has improved measures to be used to keep things in order in case it should snow like the last blizzard we had.

Nobody will be dissatisfied why they didn't get to get to where they wanted to be at a particular time as a result of the snowstorm and failure to have it plowed.

New York City is great and maintain that greatness, everybody needs to contribute their quota to keep the State on it’s feet, we all contribute in a form of cash. Do you forget my tax dollars to NYS?. Meanwhile, I will be home tomorrow, no worries of leaving home in the snow.
God bless NY and America at large and Dazuuri as well.

Letter to Olo, R.I.P

 Hello Olo,
How are you doing and how is your family? Hope everybody is fine; I am also doing great down here in NY.I missed you so much, I always remember you, but…. I will not complain, I do ask of you on frequent basis when I get to talk to Patrick online.
I had the opportunity to drop you some few lines to let you know, I am fine and also let you know you are still fresh in my memory, how could I forget you so soon? That will be a deadly mistake on my part. I still remember all the harassments; the 1GH cedi, bouncing your credits from your phone, parasiting you of your food, wow!! And that was certainly a good sign of struggling for survival, thank you so much for always sharing.
But now, I have nothing but not food, I am always afraid to eat, just yesterday, I stood on the scale only to realize I have again an extra 5 pounds over the past month and this is besides all the massive exercises I have been doing.
No wonder, obesity is one of the biggest problems in this part of the world. I don’t want to be a victim in any sense, so am trying hard not to but a times, I go through it unnoticed.
I wish you could also be able to go online, just like of late I have been enjoying messages  from Msrg, and he told me everybody is faring well and of course I heard of you, but this is specifically for you OLO.
I will besides this, call you one day to hear from you and I hope you are still praying for me, let’s keep that up and hope for nothing but the best.

You will always be remembered and my regards to your wife, Micky and then Panin, Kakra, and to all and sundry at the mission house.
God bless,

Ronald Lawyer

2010 vrs. Ronald

The year 2010
The year 2010, was my first New Year outside my home country Ghana, my lips are too short to do the description.  So, as bro John and family were here in NY for Christmas and the holidays, we gathered on the 31st night in the living room watching the live show at time square on our big screen television. Some where some time, I always forget I was watching a TV, but often think I was there myself, ha!
The performance was great, as Jenifer Lopez was on stage with her husband or fiancé Mark A. we watched as the time counted down to Jan 1st , 2010 when the crystal ball was dropped from its proposed  77ft above sea level. The whole concept of dropping the crystal ball is a kind of tradition on its own dating back some one hundred and seven years (107). Time square was so brutal, and one couldn’t help imaging whether the whole world was present there, it was simply crowded with people all over the globe.
I saw 2009 passed and was ushered into 2010 and that morning, John and family have to depart for home, FL, as the girls school was reopening in 2 days. Don’t forget the trip to FL was going to talk a day as they were driving. Will talk more about the trip later.
I have to be honest I was blessed with 2010 like the other years like 2008 & 2009 respectively. I started school few days after New Year, and it was kind of a nice experience though I had experience college life before, but this was absolutely different. We to stay in a class with students from different ethnic and racial background don’t mention the college buddy; we had whites, black, brown, yellow and the rest and one class with students from over 20 countries. When it comes to sharing ideas of life from these countries, I was always very eager to hear what student A or B have to say about his/her country in relation to culture and life in general.
After a month or so, I was use to these students, relation was better of, and life was worth fun. Springs break set in and mankind was happy to hear the one week break was going too be spent in FL and the good news was that, we were not going to fly but will be driving through all those states to FL.
Preparations were executed, my PC and everything packed nicely and was ready, as the Mr. Van was also in extra good shape. And at12-1pm we hit the road. I was often in the back with the two girls (Bonnie and Zoe), the very first state we passed through was New Jersey also our immediate neighboring state, and into Delaware, they had a very beautiful bridge and I have also got to know DW is the smallest State in the US and that was where Vice President Joe Biden is from. From there we left behind Maryland and to Washington DC, I got to see the Washington Monument. All these sceneries are what made me think it was good driving than flying, besides all the nice scenes, it was also expensive flying everybody with the two dogs. Lol.
Now it was getting to 6pm when we approached Virginia, in fact its sch a large and vast States for more than an hour, we were still driving in the state. But when we were there, I remembered a friend who was in Richmond VA, but as at that time, she was gone, to Ghana.
After VA, we found ourselves in North Carolina, this time, we were tired and hungry and hence needed to stop and earth something and then a possible rest. So we did just that at a rest inn. But this point, my PC was dead, so I was out with my computer, had it on charge while I was reading.  I was so careful with my eyes on the computer because I didn’t want any misfit too touch it, as I just had it new with all my investment, haha!! Early the next morning, I brushed up and we took off. When we got to South Carolina, we went to a restaurant to eat; it was really nice and at this point. Hey! Don’t forget it was spring the most beautiful season, if not the allergies. After we had enough of our share of BF, we left again, the dogs of course we also fed.
Now we were heading Georgia, also a long ride. All the way after GA, we were in FL the sunshine state. It was so good and nice to my surprise, and on arrival, I was in love with the place, but that nice I was told, hey!! “Don’t get too use to the place”, and it was true.
I needed to keep my environs intact, because I am simply a sojourner. Then, we got to go to almost all their beaches and for the first time, I got to see how and what it was at beach. The fun was tremendous and trilling until we left, coming home was kind of fast.
Back to school, finished up my first semester and God being so good, I had a summer job before my last day in school, wow!! Something that to keep me busy all summer.
Summer was great and after work, came home watched a movie and the next day to work. I simply thought this routine was a big time blessing from Him. Not all were fun, but that is simply life, we may not always have everything to make our lives the way we want it.
In no time, fall semester began, and I bet I love school than anything that was on my way. I registered for classes, got my books together and ready to go, so many ups and downs, but God saw me through. Fr. Patrick return to Ghana, and a lot came on in the parish, we got new Pastor as the Old one left, a Nigerian Priest came to replace Fr. Patrick and everything back to normal either than the broken Economy.
For me, the year was good, nothing extra, as I look forward a smooth journey, my journey is so long I think so and I think it’s God who will make a perfect traveling partner and him alone, I endorsed.
School again went on well, and Christmas came in. we had a lot of people at home for Christmas dinner, I was bashing my room down with the finest of music till everybody was seated and ready to wine and dine.
We sat and talked after that and I got to see some movies. A week later, 2011 and I just woke up after haven’t stayed later to see 2011 with my eyes and thanked God for this. It could be a year of blessings and or the either one, with challenges, but whichever it is, man must make it a point to give praises and glory to His Holiness.
I pray 2011 will be crisis/ disaster free, terrorist plotting free, economic recovery and stability, good health, illness free. A year that I will improve my relation with God, also a ear that I will buy that 3million home. Everything will turn to good.
Tomorrow is my birthday 2nd, hey!! May I live to see everything God want me to see and do all He had for my as my an assignment on Planet Earth.
May God in his abundant mercy heal all our illness and bring to us joy, happiness, love and forgiving hearts.
Amen
Happy 2011 to you all
Ron

Snow and the People

The snow day
Late last Saturday 25th , which was Christmas day, there came a forecast that we were going to have a big blizzard thus, across the Northeastern parts of US. On the 26th, it was a clumsy day as one could easily smell the anticipated snow. We rushed to church and from there we went to David Bagels to catch a quick breakfast before going to Nyack Hospital to see Grandma Esther.
On our way, it started to snow and for me, I love to see it snow, I really love snow in short. But just like us, everybody was in a hurry to their various destinations and some on hearing news of the impending snow storm do everything possible to gather all their needed items so that, in case they are not able to go out as a result of the snow, they will stay in good shape with food, and others. I could also see, people rushing in and out of shops, from one to the next, to get their stuff of necessity. We didn’t need anything after all, as we had enough to sustain us for weeks, even months or at least a year, lol.
From Nyack, we drove gently home, as it was really snowing badly and it was forecasted we were likely to get 24 inches of snow, which was two foots. I guessed it did snowed all night and the next day, we had a big pile of snow, I couldn’t get to shovel the drive way as I intended so as to get my way out of home.
The storm was said to be one of its kind, all public transports were cancelled as well as almost 10,000 flights, and people didn’t get to go to work. The city of New York was in a mess as people couldn’t do otherwise in terms of mobility, few days after that, others complaint, the city authorities didn’t  do their best when it came to cleaning the snow from the city.
The mayor of the city had to publicly respond to those criticisms, some people even said, wealthy neighborhoods were target first than people in other low income neighborhoods.
Personally, I happened to hear from a conversation with a friend  after haven’t asked, whether he was able to go to work on Monday amidst the blizzard, he said to me no, because their streets were kind of the last to be plowed as they are lots minorities/ simply a minority neighborhood, I wasn’t  happy at all to hear that remark. But that is America, where everything is competition and class structure with so much attention being paid to, if you are not in a certain class, just forget it, don’t sit and expect to have favors like the rich guy whose house is on the hill. That is why, everybody look forward a better life, which in its sense isn’t easy to come by.
About NYC, all who weren’t certified with the responses to the blizzard by the towns, and city authorities may have  their points to err in good faith, because they need to work and support themselves and that notwithstanding, they pay taxes like crazy, right from their hard earned pay checks to the cup of coffee bought.
So if I may ask, where did all the tax dollars go that, they couldn’t get to hire enough personnels with working equipments to do the job very fast as everybody know for sure how the city operates?
Next time, I think the Mayor will do his best with his men to serve the people so that, the wont grumble out of dissatisfaction.
Economically the storm affected a lot of businesses but this is a natural cause, not any homo sapien did it to attract punishment.
All that man could do was, get prepared to clean up when such natural disasters occur, of course people lost their lives as a result of this storm. Some 8 people in a small room in California were reported burned to death in their effort to stay warm from the blizzard.
Snow, I love you, but not shoveling and not when you over snowed and cause chaos in town. I know in few days you will be here again, this time, and go easy with us and this we will be able to manage you. Every neighborhood does pay tax and need to be served when there is the need, we are not all the same, and some must be masters and others servants, but when in terms of emergency like blizzard, that kind of attitude must be showed a back benched.
Blessed day
Ronnie
