R.I.P Prof. John Evans Atta Mills

Ghana as a young republic is always making history from time to time and I will tell you they just made yet another one and more is on the way. This time, it will be good ones and not just bad as the “Cockroach theory” might propose.

What history did Ghanaians make this time if you might ask? Well for the first time in the history of the young democracy, President John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills joined the silent choir while in office during his first term as the president of the forth republic of Ghana. He was also the third elected president and the third to be called John to have been in Castle Osu, which is the seat of government.

His death was like a silent storm and I think that is great way to die, I wouldn’t ask for any better way than that. You might think I’m insane but the truth is, we’ll all die, and I just see death like the age of puberty which every human being will experience once in their life. So we might as well want to start learning how to die. I wasn’t very surprise when news about his death was suddenly all over the internet within a matter of seconds after his demise like wild fire.

Professor Mills as he was poplar known was for sometimes before or shortly after he took office was never well and I heard of his death so many times before he finally passed away. Of course during a life time, we all die couple of times before our death but that is more of philosophical and I don’t want to go there yet. So at first I was very pessimistic about the truism of his death but when I began to see the headlines from international and other well trusted websites, I began to consider the news to be true.

Besides those websites, I had a call from my sister telling me of something I had asked her to do and before I hanged up, she also confirmed that Prof. was gone.
He was accordingly not known to be sick though he did make known to his people that he wasn’t feeling good but prior to that, he was in the United States for a medical checkup. He was accordingly also headed to Nigerian for business talks with their president Hon. Good Luck Jonathan but the unprecedented thing happened.

He was 68 years of age, not an age of someone with so much in terms of status but due to sicknesses believed to have been throat cancer amongst others, had to leave early. He died at one of the nation’s top hospitals called the 37 Military Hospital on the 24th day of the 7th month and when you add  that up, thus 37, 24 and 7 you get 68 as the years in his life and he also died exactly the 3rd day after his 68th birthday. So those are all things that came with the president’s death. Many said he was truly God sent. I personally believed he will rest in peace.

He was a very educated man as stated earlier, with a PhD from London School of Economics yet very humble and no one could trace any element of arrogance in him. He became a Law Professor at the nation’s premier university, Legon as well as a traveling professor to the US and the Netherlands. He was also nominated Fulbright Scholar. And later became the vice president during former president Rawlings regime before he was finally elected to the presidency in 2008 after having tried three times. He was known by many in Ghana as the King of Peace because he used to easily surrender to confrontations in the name of peace whenever there was anything like disagreement or dissatisfaction of polls results between him and the other opposing parties, especially the minority NPP today.

Prof. Mills ran a good race and fought a good fight said by St. Paul the apostle. The people of Ghana truly cherished him and will deeply feel your departure with the vacuum left. But God knows why He called you home this early. We are all goners and shall be joining you some day. R.I.P. but if tears were something that could bring you back to life, you would have been back in just less than five minutes after your death. The whole world was in tears and shock once they heard you weren’t anymore.

There Ghana on this very note has experience yet another evidence of history though it is bad one. My last respect therefore goes to you Ex-President Mills, as I heard you will be buried at the Flagstaff House in Accra next month.

Annual Picnic at RCC

Good men never worry a lot about what's coming up and how they will get invlove with stuff. I least expected that day when a ticket was handed me to go picnicking by the good boss. It pays to walk out there with a good heart full of love, work hard and do the best you can and the rest will take care of themselves. And it is a blessing to also have some good people in our respective lives and to work with. I'm just feeling blessed and thanks to God everyday for that.

Happiness comes from within and not external only.

I was prolly posing for that hot June 28th day out the back of Brucker Hall, RCC

That is brother Wilson

Folks were filled to their brims and some exited the place already. I was still sticking in there because I wanted to hear the results of the raffle. I didn't win but guess what? I had an ice cream

Bloody Massacre in Colorado, US

Bloody Massacre through madness in Colorado
There are a lot going on out there these days and it's always very unfortunate to see innocent people being victims of such acts beyond human comprehension.
Last week in Aurora Colorado, a young man of 24 years of age went into a movie theater which was showing the new batman movie “The dark knight rises” and spayed twelve (12) people to death and almost fifty (50) people critically wounded. The question that continues to echo in the heads of many out there is that, why such an act? But that young man was believed to be an academician who happened to have been studying a PhD in neuroscience in a university in Colorado. Could it be that he suffered a sudden mental defect?

It is very sickening to see oneself in such tragic incidents where for the quest to fighting boredom, you went to a theater to get entertained only to be in such a mess. Right now, he is in a jail without a bond and I don’t know who would really do that for him in the first place. I believe series of investigations will be put in place to at least get a gist of why he did the offensive.

Besides that young bloke, there was a similar issue that happened in Arizona last year where a congressman, therefore someone who partakes in making or amending laws of the nation, was almost killed. Shot in the head, thank God for vibrant medical personnel and modern medicine and technology. But in the end over six people where pronounce dead.

From human stand point, I don’t think things of that nature are worth our attention, for it is beyond cruelty and the pain the families of those victims endure is highly unbearable. Laws ought to be put in place to tackle issues relating guns and ammunition. The shocking news that later emerged for Colorado was that, Holms, being the suspect of that horrendous crime at the theater was with 6,000 ammo. That is a lot and I don’t know if you really get what that means. It is indeed a lot and I wonder where in the world he got all of those from without been questioned. Sometimes things of such caliber are good enough to blame on the loose policies in place so as money lovers who prefer to have the cash in their greedy wallets to human lives.
All they think is “just show me the cash, and you can have your others delivered without any question”. That needs to be fought and fixed.  And right now, I will tell you people doesn’t even want to go to movies and that alone is going to be a blow to the movies industry unless they do something to refute the fears and anxieties people might be holding about theaters.
Already the economy is not doing so good as news had it that, the U.S economy amassed anemic 1.5% growth and all I can say is that, Dear God, please help mankind.

Rehearsal Dinner for the New Couple

Cheerful couple to-be. Right there is Craig, the big bro and his lovely woman Leslie. That was immediately after a rehearsal dinner somewhere in New York. Wishing you all the best in your marriage

.

My dessert after dinner, yummy be what? haha!

Some tit bit time from the couples with uncle Jimmy and wife Elsa from Texas

.
Young Sean, all happy for his bag from the uncle, a wedding gift I guess, lol

Jimmy J of the Lone Star State, he was in town with parents for grandpa's 90th, which I will talk about later and also for other festivities in town. It was a great pleasure meeting him and the mom who is far right of him above.

"Welcome to COSIMO's Restaurant", that was what I heard from the waitress. It was a nice environment and they had such a wonderful menu of eateries.

Bachelor's Party for the big brother Craig Kotzker

G.W Bridge for you. It was raining cats and dogs in Rockland but not NYC where we were headed that fateful evening. Thank God for that evening, it was a true killer, haha!

Chelsea Piers, NYC. One great place to be anytime you find yourself in the heart of Manhattan.
I survived that evening with my spirit of multitasking; bowling, eating, drinking, watching the baseball game between the METS and the YANKEES, and above all socializing. It was the evening before a big wedding for brother Craig and in short that was what we did for his bachelor's night, no strip clubs, thank God, hahaha!!

First time bowler was all ready with the bowling shoes intact. I had so much fun that night and the people could hardly believe me when I said it was my first time bowling.

A break from bowling I guess, lol. The food at that restaurant was incredible and I could feel some extra pounds after that wonderful night. Best man Mr. Tim with the bridegroom to-be.

Eat until you pass out

Where was everybody???

It was interesting to see that we all scored the same points after the first round. Good one!!!

Great friends BBQ together:)

You don't have to have everything on this planet to be happy, just a little cider in your hand and make a big pose for the cam and you are  Mr. Happy:) I was on my way with one big brother Rene to our friend's BBQ in New City

I love that brother with his great smile which he seldom release until a pressure from me was exerted, hehe. I think for the most part, we often reason together.

I still have problem with choice and that isn't just me alone, but to all above with my friend Jackie, Cris, all are facing the issue of choice of what to have here.

My bro. Alexander right there, what a genius jazz Man he is? I look forward his performance at the Apollo theater in NYC. I'm and will always be very proud of him. Next is my friend Mike Eli and then Monique who is back to her home State of Tennessee.

I love this shot, for some reasons, I see something super nice in it, hahaha!!

One great shot, there is something very unique about friendship. But it does differ in terms of definition and taste from one person to another. For me, that evening was one awesome evening and an opportunity for our gathering at Olena's. Good friends always BBQ together and that is why I chose that headline for this piece. Yes, good friend also disagree to agree sometimes, they also argue, they misunderstand each other on timely basis, and they also might even fight but all of that doesn't have to pose as a threat to their friendship. As a matter of fact, it does strengthen friendship. This however doesn't give a clue of what I stand for in terms of friendship, for mine is broad beyond imagination.lol

I loved the ambiance of that place and that is why I would like to visit there one day. From left is Rafael Martinez, Jackie Jackson, Monique P and Mike Eli

#Weekend in Vermont

July 15, 2012, was a great day. I was humbled to have had over 5 hours ride to Vermont with my boss and mentor. What a great and nice man God has given me. He is none but my own Dr. Wood. My bags and baggage were packed and the mood was set. We were on our way by 3pm. For the first time, I saw Connecticut, Massachusetts and then Vermont. The evening was great with Sarge and Girl friend. My room was in upstairs with skylines. Amazing. The most comfortable place anyone could ever seek to be. The next morning, we had breakfast in town and drove to New Hampshire. So I ended up seeing four of the 13 original colonies of the US. Very blessed and while there, I could feel I was out of touch with our noisy world. Thank God for the man.
Check below for some pictures.
Big traffic somewhere in Connecticut on our way to VT

While we were almost in Boston, MA; I saw this car doing some overtaking and looking inside, I saw this woman looking to me like someone returning home from a conference somewhere and she hanged clothes probably wet which includes her underwear of some sort. It was amazing from the point at which I perceived my thoughts. So this picture of her car reminds me of what I thought about her. You might not get it but guess what? that is alright.

Coming into my room, I thought this was great

That book by my bed was supposed to be read by everybody in this world

Splendid be what?

This was a beautiful thing I haven't seen in a long time. That was the early morning sunrise through the skyline in my room. It was 5:30am. Oh yeah!! that is summer for you:)

When I saw this, I reminded me of my own days as a farmer. Here they are getting the soil ready for sowing. The greatest of all professions is farming no doubts about that. If you object to this, then you will have no bread and without bread, your brains cannot function to let you do what you might be doing as your own profession to earn a living.

Had breakfast in this farms. While there, we met a man who said he is an artist and has been in New York on many occasions but also vowed he would never want to live in Metropolitan  New York even for free. He described the life of the City as insane with noise, filth and uncertainty of threats. I think he was right but I love NYC.

The most peaceful place in the world for peaceful people like myself

Nice view according to my great eyes; say my mama:)

Skyline for room:)

That bridge isn't only for the toddlers

Hidden woods

Little pond with zillions of fingerlings

Love this home

Loved this

Shot from the woods

Out from the forest:)

Orchids Hill, here I come

The farms!

I had long great rides all day that day:)

Do you often judge books by their covers? well, if yes; please don't for you will always miss a lot if you does. This building might have an inferior look outside but there are some looks in it worth multimillion dollars. Yes, it has a great river underneath it and that one is just the tip of the iceberg. We had lunch there and their meals are beyond mouth description.

Incredible places up there

Great drive!

Beautiful

Had the best ice cream in the World here at Warpole Creamery. I ended up on one of the six chairs you are looking at.

Had an amazing breakfast here in VT, loved it and will love to visit again some day.
