It was a great pleasure to hear from you from home. New York is fine and cold so as myself, haha. I was in the City with four other friends to see the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center, we almost froze amidst all the warm dresses we had on.

We abroad, especially myself, is all happy Mother Ghana has again advanced to yet another stage of her economic achievement in relation to her Oil Discovery. And not just because we look forward it for our individual benefits, but for benefit of the good people of the nation and of course we will also benefit in a way as they will be less calls from home for money though we might not have that ourselves. ha!!.

I think, discovering of oil in commercial quantities is nothing, but a huge wealth for the nation. And as a nation, we lack so many things that could help make life for our people comfortable. So the resources or the booty from the “black gold” as nick named, be used for those things that is very necessary. But due to lack of resources, government pays less attention to them. They need to equip our hospitals with modern day medical equipments as people will always be sick, agricultural sector, I meant food production, for people will always eat, our roads, are in a much more deplorable state and needs to be fixed, so that we can also challenge the so called first world/developed countries like the US, China, Japan and co.

The environment, must be conducive to attract world class investors, this oil is definitely going to bring foreigners and corporations to come and invest in the nation, but if our environment is nothing, but stinky upon arrival at KIA, then they wouldn't like to stay, but will immediately get on the next flight back to where ever they came from.

So, more work needs to be done in keeping the environments clean and attractive to bring inventors, which in turn will boost the socioeconomic status of mother Ghana.

Fighting diseases and other pandemics in the nation, is one area government needs to use some of the revenue for. Malaria HIV/AIDS are still on rise.

More security personnel needs to be recruited to fight crimes in the country; no foreigner or investor will like to be in a nation that is likened to a den of crooks/robbers.

Villages such as mine in the far Upper West, should be provided with safe drinking water in a form of boreholes as many still drink from contaminated rivers and springs. And if that is done, the goal of eradicating guinea worm in the country will be met fully.

So far, this is what I for one, will like to see our government of today and tomorrow, use the resources that will be derived from the oil to do. This, we can all be happy for the change that will come in the country through the oil.

However, African leaders has their own history of greed and selfishness, and Ghana is not of exception, they should make sure anybody who will be caught misappropriating these resources, be process for the due course and brought to book, and that will serve as a deterrent to others.Sharing of national cake equally has always been a  problem, since some people thinks they are more hungrier than others and hence a desire bigger portions to satisfy their hunger. Greed!!

Thank you for offering me this opportunity to also err my views and concerns to how Mother Ghana’s Oil be used for the benefit of her Children.

God bless and Merry Christmas again
Ron,  NY
