Civil Disobedience

Have you ever wondered why some people are so arrogant, in mind and in their actions? I for one do so a lot. Of course some people are by nature nonconformist and all they do is, take two steps backward when society or government takes one forward. They will never side or find common grounds with government.

I was watching an interview the other day on one of my many channels; I don’t want to mention names here and a young man in his 20s from one of the countries where there has been recent civil unrest. Something he said which stuck my mind even until this day was that “will live the rest of my life on civil disobedience”. If a young kid like him, makes such pronouncement, then having people to agree on issues to let peace reign, will simply be a nightmare. I was so disturbed with his remarks beyond any doubt.

By the way, civil disobedience by definition is the refusal to obey certain laws or governmental demands for the purpose of influencing legislation or government dogma, branded by  resorting such nonviolent techniques as boycotting, restraining, and refusal to pay taxes. When something like this happens, people of civil disobedience are often on the opposite side of everything, and government or authorities tries to use other means to calm them. And those means will involve using forces, the police or military which will eventually escalates into civil war.

Meanwhile nothing of that sort comes without lives and properties getting lost. And that is not to say, be a coward and get oppressed by government or whatever, but dialogue should always be the key in this regard.

Our world could have been a better place without wars; we could also have all what it takes to make the lives of everybody comfortable. I was so sick when I was reading news the other day, where they reportedly said, America is now spending $2,000,000,000.00 a week on the war in Afghanistan. Such is a huge amount of money and could be used at home to build more infrastructures to make life easy.

Right now, a lot is underway to have a lot of services in the nation cut. I do agree the fact that men will always rise against their fellow men, even in the beginning of times, there were wars, and it all came as a result of jealousy and what have you.
Just like Cain in the book of Genesis, he hunted down his brother Abel and the same is happening today in our world after zillions of years ago. Yes it’s still happening but in different forms/versions that without looking at it critically, you cannot tell.

Again, I was listening to yet another telecast, where they said, one library was facing a fore closure in a neighboring State of mine, because there hasn’t been enough funding for it. Can you imagine a place where 1000s of folks go to read, borrow books, recreation and others to enrich their knowledge will be closed?

That is just one of those things we all need to always think about. And all these will partly relegated to civil disobedience, if you fail to settle for things of national importance, it will breed to a level that your people cannot help, but will have to seek help somewhere. Law abiding citizens enjoy a big time peace and freedom. Yes freedom, freedom will certainly not be one where people will be allowed to kill themselves and go scot free. And freedom will not be when you are allowed to take away from your brother what he toils for, but being able to move about freely, express yourself where necessary and be able to have a say in national issues, vote during election and the rest.

Civil disobedience is not the answer here my friend, and there are better ways of getting our petitions channeled for redress by the appropriate offices. I really don’t side with this bloke under any circumstances, but sing our heads to reason and find solutions is the way forward.

Let obedience and peace reign for the planet thirst for those.

Have a great weekend.
