His timing, His safety, His plan

The date was set. Friday. January 23, 2009. Scheduled, 08:00. Calls and plans made accordingly. Praying for His timing, His safety, His plan.

Clothes washing, drying, folding. Organizing, arranging, packing. A day off to prepare for the arrival while hoping in His timing, His safety, His plan.

Burgers from Longhorn Cafe. Fries spilling out on the coffee table while conversations of excitement and nerves filled the house on Goldcrest Run. Waiting for His timing, His safety, His plan.

Upstairs, nesting in the unfinished nursery and it broke on Thursday afternoon. The anxious and giddy holler, "Um, I think my water broke!" Waking from a nap, he hurried upstairs with a huge grin on his sleepy face. Curious about His timing, His safety, His plan.

Calls made again for a change of plans. Questions, curiosity, and laughter about that which broke. So much excitement. Jumping in the shower, packing up the bags, trusting His timing, His safety, His plan.

Driving to the hospital, in a fog of emotions. Pulled up to the doorway and the wheelchair rolled out. Welcomed to L&D. Vitals, monitors, gowns, and heartbeats. Wondering about His timing, His safety, His plan.

Hours passed by making many anxious. Some wanting to know how long it would take while others enjoyed the wait. Resting, knowing that all was about to change. Anxious for His timing, His safety, His plan.

The clock struck midnight and we all did wait. No baby yet would he be late or would he come just as they said on Friday, January 23, 2009. His timing, His safety, His plan.

Praying. Hoping. Waiting. Curious. Trusting. Wondering. Anxious. His timing, His safety, His plan.
