My Comment on Trump and Putin Summit in Alaska 2025

The sensational Moscow–Washington summit between Trump and Putin is underway, with the world watching to see if there will be a breakthrough on the war in Ukraine. The challenge is clear: Zelensky insists Ukraine cannot give up territory, it’s against his constitution, while Putin refuses to budge. NATO membership for Ukraine is another sticking point: it's a no-go for Putin, but something Trump is open to it with exceptions.

Across the board, critics say meeting Putin without Zelensky legitimizes him, but history shows sometimes talks start with just two parties before an expansion. Mr. Art of the Deal, Trump, his record with peace deals, from the Abraham Accords to now multiple global nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize in recent times has given many some hope he might broker something that can last.

Trusting Putin is risky, but Trump’s willingness to use sanctions and economic pressure could keep him in check. Trump has a lot of bargaining chips to his side, those above are a great start. If nothing else, this summit may be the first step toward peace, however imperfect it might seem to his detractors, between Russia and Ukraine.

That is just my two cents. Let there be peace.
